to diagnose properly u will have to hook up ac pressure guages and see what they are reading.

but i wouldnt run the ac until it is fixed.. you dont want to renew a ac compressor because it burned out.

Hopefull y he knows what he's doing,  did a performance test first.  Recovered all the old stuff, evacuated all the moisture, checked for leaks,  and refilled with the proper weight,  then did another test.

If he doesn't have a set of these, don't let him touch your A/C.

Don't run it either.  It could be overfilled and cycling off because the pressure is too high.  If you get liquid refrigerant in your compressor it will die.  Keep the defroster off too since that normally turns on the AC.

I kind of doubt he's got his own recovery and recycling machine and a vacuum pump,  which will probably be needed to get your AC running properly.

I don't mean to sound like a dick,  but if your guy is just buying cans of stuff without doing a performance test first,  he's a fucking idiot.

I imagine California has some pretty strict environmental rules when it comes to AC work.  He's probably supposed to be certified before he can even buy refrigerant
