Yes, the old Shroomery Wheel of Fun? has been spun yet again, and this time it landed on that old favorite, "Name That Author!" :laugh:

Five Shrooms to the first person who can, "name that author"...

The local came booming in along the black induction strip, fine grit sifting from cracks in the tunnel's ceiling. Case shuffled into the nearest door and watched the other passengers as he rode. A pair of predatory-looking Christian Scientists were edging toward a trio of young office techs who wore idealized holographic vaginas on their wrists, wet pink glittering under the harsh lighting. The techs licked their perfect lips nervously and eyed the Christian Scientists from beneath lowered metallic lids. The girls looked like tall, exotic grazing animals, swaying gracefully and unconsciously with the movement of the train, their high heels like polished hooves against the gray metal of the car's floor. Before they could stampede, take flight from the missionaries, the train reached Case's station.

PS: It looks like you honesty worked at it too, with your first Burroughs answer. It would make perfect sense to think it was him, as Gibson was very influenced by Burroughs -- although I don't think Burroughs ever portrayed vaginas as anything pretty or good -- but we all know about old W.S.B. :smirk:

I'm going to have to find a way to de-googlefy these quizzes. Perhaps, next time I'll ask a question about the significance of the author or the particular passage quoted... :wink:

PPS: I was hanging out at the coast today re-reading Neuromancer, for the first time since the Internet took over, the Matrix made millions, Solera Genomics broke the genetic code, the programmed trading of Wallstreet, and all these other advances that we now take for granted, and it's kind of interesting to view the work in that kind of context...
