Smashed my thumb

I feel like a complete and total dumbass, it started raining hard and i rushed to get inside and my cars door bit me! It doesnt look horrible, small blue half moon on the lower part taking up about 10 to 15 percent of the nail. But the pain has kept me up for 3it hours. Ive had it in iced compression off and on since it happened,  can still bend it..
im sure others have done such a thing.. what else can i do besides painkillers? How long must i endure this? Im still on probation with my job, and cannot afford to lose it do to something lik this. I can still bend my thumb and use it lightly but,  i push in wires with the thumb, and im worried this may interfere. I started panicking about a hour ago and am sort of calming down now. :facepalm:

I had mine in the hinges of a door when it was closed. 6 years ago and it still looks fucked up.

Calm down buddY! Did the same thing few days ago moving a giant stainless steel sink back behind a bar and my finger got crushed. Done it many times before. The pain will subside in a day or two(hopefully). It should grow back fine.
