im planning on a trip to  southern california in a couple weeks and was wondering if it would be worth my time to poke around some cow fields along my excursion. im used to picking cold weather species and dont usually hear too much about    :confused: :confused:so-cal

Eh... Califorina isn't exactly "shroom capital o' the world."
You'd be better off not risking getting caught trespassing because chances are that you'll find next to nothing in cowfields in California. All the dungloving psychoactive mushrooms tend to hang out in the southeast.

Tell you what.

Sothern California aint shit for mushrooms. Lived there for thousands of years, never found anyhting great. You;d be happier just fucking around in the ocean and picking mushrooms up in the Norht in the winter months.

thanks guys. that saved me a whole lot of could be headaches. any time i hit the road the first thing i think of is mushrooms, i've heard stories about the mountains in southern new mexico heading toward texas and thought maybe so cal, but i guess not.
any word on how far east you have to go in the summer?

Hey, but, winter-time comes around, take a 2 week trip up to Northern California, you'll be able to find some cyanescens (if your lucky) but, we'll also have Panaelous subbalteatus growing off of compost heaps.

cool, all about the subbs, ive yet to find one, i was looking a little bit too late this spring but i through all that i think ive learned enough to be ready this fall. i definitely want to spend some time in northern cali this fall, ill bet mt Shasta area keeps the subbs around a bit longer than other places.
