In the second to last pic they look stained blue. I would think that they were psilocybe, but I would ask someone who is really knowlegable.

There dosent have to be dung around if the ground is enriched with manure. If there have been cows dropping manure there for some time then the ground is probably full of nutrients even if there is no sign of dung. The mycelium grows underground. They look like cubies to me. Do a spore print. If the spores are dark purple I would further think that they are cubes.

Ah- welcome wo the shroomery! Before you post on the MHunting forum, you should have read through the General Information on mushroom hunting/identifying info on the site. I t includes info on spore print making (quite simple). Not tring to be a pain, but first things first. Happy picking friend.

The print is required for purpose of obtaining an ID. The color of the print is used to determine the possible genera your specimens could belong.

Since the photos were last taken, have they bruised blue anywhere? Before you select a cap to print (for identification purposes), see which one has the best visual concentraion of spores. -BG

It seems too big to be anything but Cubensis really. That's just what I think though.

Looks like it fits into a complex of similar looking mushrooms.. it doesn't look like anything active either way.

not active.
Probably Agrocybe. Not necessarily praecox, but that's as good a guess as any. That photo of Agrocybe praecox is just ONE PHOTO. The expression varies a great deal in all mushrooms. They could be some Stropharia, but they don't have a veil to speak of....
http://www.mushroomexpert.com/agrocybe_praecox.html This page explains a little better why your mushroom could be A. praecox and not look like it to you. Of course, you have not yet stated what color the spore print is... the reason it is important is that it is one of the defining characteristics of the mushroom. The spore color, 99.99% of the time, will not vary at all from one praecox to the next....or one cubensis to the next. The color of the cap may be quite variable. Many visual indicators that seem to be useful initially are actually no good at all when it comes down to making an ID. Read the rules. They will splain to you how to tell us what we need to know to help you. you can't just go hunting and take pictures and have some people you don't know decide whether you can eat them or not!!! YOU have to learn how to ID them before you can eat wild mushrooms. Because in the end, you will be the one to suffer from your poor decision making if you haven't decided well.... good luck

Nothing good there as far as psilocybe but good picking. A bit of variety! Are you in Central or Southern Cali? Stick with the poo. I found a bunches at dairys. That's the only place I find anything in Cali!

Cubes don't grow in california....go look in some woodchips, or well fertilized or manured fields, but looking directly in the manure it's self is pretty much a waste of time where you live.

If they were blue-staining, I'd say its one of the cyanofibrillosa-like species we get here in northern California.
If it isn't blue-staining, then I'd go with something Agrocybe praecox, Stropharia riparia, or Psathyrella longistriata. The presence of an appendiculate margin on one of the mushrooms narrows it to one of the latter two species.
