Nomenclature. I feel like an idoit I need help. Is there a good site

that explains nomenclature???? I get the whole type 1 type two etc but how do you name a metal mixed with an acid? for instance Ni^3 with HSO_4_


I am taking intro chem and I can feel my hair fading to gray today as I struggle with this. My stupid book and my stupid teacher only briefly stated the concept of anions derived from acids and now I have a whole page of combinations to name and here I sit feeling like:hoffy:

Sounds like you took the hard chemistry class.  Or you suck at notes. 

Perhaps your stupid book and stupid teacher are anthropomorphisms of yourself and feelings. 

I don't know about all that, but I'd say you need to know the basic ones that you were told in class, and also conventions for naming more compounds.

They should be standard, and rules for naming them are fairly consistent.

Looking over it ( ^ ) it looks pretty legit.  Different categories based on different situations, so good luck.  And get out of the 'stupid this', 'stupid that', mindset.  Cool.

I got Nickel(III) Bisulfate But when I google it I can't seem to confirm it

HSO4 would be negative and you'd need 3 of them for the Ni(III).
you're sure it's not H2SO4?

Its definitely Ni^+3  combined with (HSO_4_)^-  Makes Ni(HSO_4_)_3


But what is it called?  I know that hydrogen sulfate(bisulfate) Is an acid anion containing a -1 charge but I am unshure how to name the two combined...

Improvised some.

Anyway, good luck buddy.

The most Oxygens (like NO3, SO4, etc...) End in Ate
Middle oxygens (like NO2, SO3, etc..) End in Ite
Least oxygens ends in Ite but starts with hypo.  Hypochlorite - HClO.  Chlorite - HCLO2.  Chlorate - HCLO3.

Something like that.

Then there's other things going on, too.  You should got tho. 

Who wants to teach me hydraulic profiles?  Specifically I need to know how to find the reynold's number, friction headloss, bend K values, etc...

Who's comin' with me.
