im not trying to hide it in the sense that you guys are thinking. i want it more for a just in case scenario that is easy assessable and easy to grab, but hidden.

Speaking of keeping it hidden from cops in the event you're on probation or it's not your gun, you could put it in an urn filled with flour. Unless it's confirmed that you don't have an earn filled with a family members ashes, I doubt police would dump it out (it would be like disrespecting a place of worship). And of course, you could pull out the gun in about 3 seconds.

pull it out in 3 seconds, clean it for 10 minutes to get the flour out and then shoot the intruder

Or, you could put a small piece of tape over the barrel.

there's more to the workings of a gun than just the barrel

If it's a handgun, everything else will stay sealed off from the flour as long as the slide isn't pulled back when you put it in. In addition, there has got to be other things besides flour you could put in there to mimic a persons ashes... much better then flour.

it will be a hand gun. i like that socket idea. ive actually seen that before and thought about using that for a drug stash, but that will not house a compact, let alone a full size.

Assuming in this case that you have ownership rights of said gun, you would probably be best off getting a small lockbox with a number pad. 1234 and you have a gun, 5 seconds and you don't need to fix anything to put it back in place.

Unless you have children in the house, you may as well just cut open a compartment in an old, useless book. It would be your best bet, you don't even need it on a bookshelf, you can just have it lying around.

I still think it would work. I challenge you to put a handgun in an urn and fill it with flour, and record the result of taking it out.

Do cops/swat not know about this kind of stuff? I assume they would and then it would only really work for things that you legally own.

Clever, but you need to actually have that exact dresser.
Poorboy can't go ahead and modify his dresser to work like that.

In addition, that idea is somewhat invalid. If you look at the front picture in comparison to the side view, you will see that the "hidden compartment" is in where the top drawer SHOULD be, and thus, the top drawer will be "fake" and won't pull out. Even a 1-night-over guest in your home would notice something was up if they tried to open the top drawer.

Yes, they would. They open all drawers and probably take them out during a warrant. If you count the knobs in the front in comparison to the side view, you'll see that the result is having a top drawer that doesn't pull out.

If a cop was serving a warrant and couldn't open a drawer, he wouldn't say "I guess it's stuck. I'm sure there are no drugs in here". He would examine it more closely and eventually find the hidden compartment.

everyone keeps leading back to the cops.

1. all will be legal
2. there is no reason for my shit to be raided
3. this little number lists dont seem as cool when its from 1. to 2.

even if i were to explain to them that small children do come by and i have all papers needed for the gun itself?

the hole is for emergencies anyway that and so its out of plan site and easy to access. kinda like a furniture hold.

that's the thing, a shoe box in the top of the closet is accessible more so
than having to patch a wall a dozen times because you'll want to take it out
and maintain it otherwise you'll have a rusty piece of crap inside your wall

if you want it SAFE and ACCESSIBLE... get a safe

Just wanted to point out that biometric safes aren't proven to work with blood on the fingertips.  I know it's the extra-rare situation that you'd have to use the safe in an emergency and likely even more rare that you'd have blood on your hands but what if...

Now that you've demonstrated you know jack shit about guns, are there any other subjects you wish to demonstrate your ignorance of?

I'm sure it will work out fine.

Tell me, when will you be changing your user name to "stumpy"?

Or do you prefer "bushie-2-fingers"?
