This is my confession

I don't expect nice responses if any, but im confessing my sin on here now.

I work in human services, in an 18-24yo adult shelter. We are responsible for giving out meds. If we miss a medication its a writeup or worse. Today I was supposed to give meds out to this chick and I forgot. Im totally covering it up to save my own ass. I wrote it out and put it in an envelope to give to the girl cause she was leaving on a pass, and I found it in my pocket well after my shift (amoxicillin).

Im an asshole, yes. I straight up lied and said I gave the envelope to her, and am not going to tell the truth until I no longer work there. I did it to avoid a writeup cause im selfish and dont want to get fired.

thanks for the response. i know shell be fine, and shes near the end of her amoxy doses, so whatever infection she had was most likely eradicated already.

I just had to come clean somewhere :p

I know a guy worked on a psych ward, gave them all their night meds in the morning they were all fast asleep all day, just got a disciplinary

I don't know about you but upon discovering one of my own errors in my professional life, I must confess and correct it as a matter of professional pride and conscience.

Further reflection:

If your superiors make you this scared to report these errors, they're fucking themselves right in the ass. They're driving errors (which are going to happen) under ground. This system is broken if this is how it sounds. You're probably not in a position to help them see the error of their ways admitting one of your own (as it would seem self-serving), but um... yeah.

Everyone makes mistakes. Unless it was somethin other than simply forgetting that caused you to not give the dose then don't worry.
