The fluffy stuff is just mycellium -- it's normal.

Odd shaped shrooms are also normal.

Light is necessary. Even if just one hour a day, you need the light. I used an incandescent light in the closet. You can even leave it on 24/7 if you'd like.

Wouldnt the light make the shrooms a lot less potent? I know heat takes away from the potency, is this right or wrong?

Incandescent lights (such as a 60 watt lightbulb) fixed in the ceiling of the closet where many people grow mushrooms add little to no noticable heat whatsoever. And ambient house temparature is (usually) a little cooler than ambient cubie growing temp, so even if the light added heat it would be a small help..
