The poor cannot get a break in the world. If you are arrested when poor, you are fucked.

no, they typically fuck themselves. a poor man gets arrested and doesnt know
his rights so he talks to the cops and admits shit he shouldnt, he'll plead
out on a charge because of the fear he'll be convicted and given a far worse
sentence even if he's not guilty. he wont make contact with his public
defender and will accept what ever plea deal is offered

a friend sold LSD to a cop, a coupe of sheets. he ended up serving 7 mos
before he was arraigned, he got a public defender that got him ORd because
he wasnt a flight risk. the PD then proceeded to get the charges dropped, all
this because he told the guy he wanted to fight it

a second friend, arrested for possession of MDMA and DUI of MDMA, bonded
out, lucked up and got the same PD, the case went to court and he was
acquitted because the case was hinged on an improper search. the cop had
his druggie recognition classes but wasnt trained to recognize medical
conditions, one that resulted in muscle spasms and nystagmus, since the
'observation' of the erratic behavior was invalid so was the search

third friend, was charged with DUI, hit and run and a few others in
addition to failure to appear, he was encouraged to hire the same attorney
that acted as the PD in the two other cases. everything but the hit and
run was dropped, he was given 30 days of work release in order to maintain
his employment and pay restitution for the damages done, he got 1 year of
misdemeanor probation and came out way ahead by in the prosecution than he
would have if he'd showed up in court the first time

most people arrested plea out in their arraignment out of fear, more than
half of the drug cases in the US can be dismissed before court based on
technicalities, a small number because the cop doesnt show up to testify
and a larger number would be acquitted if people would stop taking please
and fight the charges. that's the advantage the wealthy have over the
poor, they have an attorney that immediately listens when they wanna fight
a charge, the public defenders wanna make their $300 and do as little work
as possible so they'll initially encourage a plea deal, if you choose to
fight, the vast majority will do so instead of risking being disbarred. cops dont always do the job right. the PD I spoke of, of the cases he's handled his had more than a 70% acquittal/dismissal rate in drug cases

You need to find new friends.

Also this is exactly what I meant:

"that's the advantage the wealthy have over the
poor, they have an attorney that immediately listens when they wanna fight
a charge, the public defenders wanna make their $300 and do as little work"
