Interesting tek Hippee3, but wouldn't you want to remove most of the top verm layer (as it sits in the jar) to remove the contaminates that it has prevented from reaching the cake? If you didn't, wouldn't you be introducing contams into your terrarium with both moisture and a food source? Just an observation from a wanna-be. ------------------ -ChesterCopperpott- "Old enough to know better, young enough to do it anyway."

By the way Hippee3, that was not meant as a flame in any way. I just wanna-be a master mycologist too.------------------ -ChesterCopperpott- "Old enough to know better, young enough to do it anyway."

Wow, stand the cake on edge instead of flat. Like that is a major scientific discovery. You really 'wannabee' don't you?------------------ Visit the Spore Lab at: http://www.sunshine.net/www/1700/sn1730 It's a trip you'll never forget!

Captain, Hippie's just trying to be helpfull (which he seems to be doing a lot of lately) It's not a bad thing, is it? I think laying the cakes on their sides is actually a pretty damn cool idea, and had been pondering something like that for a while, but been sticking with what works. there really aren't any more bacteria in the upper layer of verm. than there is anywhere else once the cake leaves the jar, unless you're birthing in a "clean room". but one can dump the uncolonized verm. if it makes you feel better, matters little. i just ignore mad max.------------------ Visit http://www.drooldonkey.org Global Psychedelic Community, Forums & Chat, Teks & Tips.

I had posted it sometime in the past, you could also make large nail bases and stick the cake on its side so it is partially suspended in the air vermcakecakecakeverm vermcakecakecakeverm vermcakecakecakeverm | | basebasebasebase the "nail" is meant to be in the middle. I think it's interesting that this forum for free information exchange, one of the most helpful members (Hippie) seems the most ridiculed. He even offers disclaimers that someone else may have come up with an idea first, that he is just trying to get good ideas out there, and for that I myself am very thankful. If you don't have anything positive to say to help us amatures toward the goal we are all supposed to be working towards, could you please leave the precious bandwidth to those who do. Thank you.Zazu
