Can you splice together these 2 computer wires?

My PC has a (6 Pin PCI-Express Cable.

I just bought a video card that requires two.

But I apparently have the only one in existance like the one i need.

I looked for another one like it and bought one like this by mistake.(See how the ends are different)

I need one that has this plug on both ends

Can i buy another cord like the first picture, cut the end off i do need, cut the other cords end i dont need to create the cord i do need?

It would look like this.


I splice speaker wire together all the time, can i do the same with this if i matched the colors?

Or if you know of a website that sells one already like this that would be ridicuosly awesome as well.

Sure.

Of course, it's not the recommended solution and all, and you need to make sure you isolate your work well (use shrink wrap), etc. etc., but it will work.

The glue in electric tape will dry out and in due time, it will unwrap. Better buy some shrink wrap.

You can buy Y adapter cable. Best solution.

by shrink wrap, they mean shrink tube.  they sell it every where that sells electronics soldering equipment.

i love the stuff.  had a flat tire a year ago shredded a wire harness in my wheel well.  the cheapest "friend hookup" price i could get to repair it was $500 to replace that harness.  some shrink tube, various wires gauges and soldering later i had the existing one repaired and remounted and only used a couple of dollars worth of stuff.  if u looked at it today, you wouldn't know there was ever damage there.

IF you don't feel like soldering (which i would want to do using heatshrink)  get some crimp connections and a crimper.
