Audio Project

Over the next few months im going to be starting a little audio project and I'd like help from anyone here with a microphone or access to one. What I hope to do is collect audio files from as many different people as possible and edit them together into some kind of trippy mix.
Id be grateful if you could record yourself or friends etc saying anything that might turn people on. It could be something to freak people out or to make them shine. Chaotic nonsense or poetry. If you have some original music/sounds that would be aprechiated too.
What I wanna find is good programmes for my PC where I can edit it all together and mess around with sounds. I have Sonar 2.2, but I'm still to get my head around working it out.
It's about time I created something, and fed my soul. I also wanna help feed your souls too, because you'll be creating art if you make some audio clips for me.
I want anything and everything. Trip reports would be brilliant. Talk about your view on the universe, what will death be like? anything and everything goes.
At the mo, this is just an idea, so any input would be welcome.
Thankyou

good luck getting people to respond is all I can say.. I tried this a few weeks ago and got nothing. However I understand what it's like to want to make music out of samples of people talking about trippy things. Try Acid Pro 4 by Sonic Foundry.. it's a great program for piecing together loops or whatever.
good luck!
and if I make any I don't use I'll send them your way

Definately Acid Pro for putting the samples together
I have some stuff on Cds around here with me and/or my friends talking, telling stupid nonsense short stories, short vocal clips, and other abstract nonsense. Mostly just stoned kids saying stupid shit I'll see if i can find something worth sending your way

there are a lot of places online that sell it, or there *might* be a store in your area.... or there is always kazaa ;)

it's real beauty shines in how easy it is to arrange your sounds, loops and long audio clips, with visual fades and everything. you can cut up your files and move the parts around without damaging the original wav file, and you can manipulate sound via effects... it comes with some effects and you can use any vst plug-ins with it. just get it and play with it, see if it does what you need, and then if you want to further manipulate your sounds you could always use another program and then edit your files before you bring them into acid. i imagine it would be perfect for what you are doing though :)
and it will also let you record new tracks (via mic or line-in) while listening to your song playback.

The easiest way to get it is to download the demo off www.sonicfoundry.com and then unlock it using a key generator. You can find keygens on Kazaa. If you want to go in and actually manipulate the sounds you should use Soundforge (also by sonic foundry and can be obtained in a similar way). This will automatically integrate into Acid 4 so you can right click on which ever track you wanna edit, click "edit in soundforge" and there you have your sound in a wave editor. It's so easy to use. I actually prefer Acid to Cubase because you can very quickly get the effect you want.
