I was driving somewhere and for some reason wanted to go to IHOP real bad(which turned out not as good as I remembered it from when I was a kid, the pancakes were rubbery and the butter/syrup tasteless).
It took a long time to find the IHOP but next to the interstate exit we saw it....the cloud machine! This thing spit out these huge weird long cloud formations that obscured the sky for miles.
The IHOP was behind it and this was all an elaborate trap to put us in the cloud machine and turn us into clouds.

I was tripping, too.

Dear OP: they are called mammatus clouds; they are indicative of a turbulent atmosphere. Usually occur before or after storms.

Thank you :thumbup:....I was just about to clarify that these are what ya call Mammatus clouds. My favorite clouds ever, but they take just the right angle of sunlight to see them in all their glory. Like ya mentioned, they usually occur around storms when ever the atmosphere is very unstable, I have always seen them on the back edge of thunderstorm cells. Unfortunately, here in California I see them only a time or two a year.
