60 watt light vs normal florescent

A friend of mine wants to know if a regular light bulb would be better than a dim regular florescent light bulb for fruiting?

He wont be able to get a 6500k bulb until next week after exams.

By regular light, I assume you mean incandescent.

Either will work ok, it's really just a question of which light produces more light in the 6500k range. My guess is that the fluorescent, although not as bright, will be closer to that range. Plus it won't put off as much heat.

People here still use incandesent lights for thier grow and have fantastic results.. But a floresent can be put closer to the mush with out over heating them allowing for more light to break the surface and trigger more pinning..

Either way you can grow 'em, Its just understood around here that mushrooms prefer 6500K(floresent) to 2700-3000k(most incandesents, and some floresents so make sure to check the label) lighting spectrums..
