Blue Fluorescent Lights in Fruiting Chamber

Hello everyone,
After my previous post when people unanimously agreed that the setup was lacking in proper growing conditions, I decided to build a more complex fruiting chamber for the kids.
It's mostly finished at this moment, just one more thing: being a rubber-maid type of container, it got clear sides which I plan to cover with something (any hints as to what would work and look nice too?) and I want to install a light inside. The problem is that temperature is quite perfect now at 74-76 F, so I really wouldn't want to get it any higher with a light bulb. Having some experience with case modding, I can get these CC-FL tubes quite easily. They emit "cold light", so the temp. would remain stable.
Do you think the blue ones would work? Or are they not the right thing for the kids? Maybe a combination blue/green/yellow/whatever (red being inactive AFAIK)?
Thanks for any ideas!
Regards, R.

you want lights that emit the blue spectrem. Not just lights that emit blue light.

The blue spetrem is barely visible by the human eye and the light will seem like a regualr florescent light.

Just use a plain fluorescent bulb, and keep it above the terrarium, not inside it. Heat isn't an issue that way. As said, there's a big difference between short wavelength light(blue spectrum) and a light that makes your walls 'look' blue. However, the whole blue light thing is overrated. Use a full spectrum lamp. RR

"Coolwhites" work great also but as RogerRabbit said it's way overrated as cubies only need a minute amount of blue light to initiate pins. I've found intensity as well as duration during pinning does make a difference in pin count (yield)

Well, the visible blue light (the one that makes walls "blue") is at around 475 nm. From the documentation I read (mostly on this site), the particular strain of mushroom that most people are interested in is sensitive to light in the 440 - 480 nm range, and also below (370) but not above 510 nm which is already visibly green. So at 475nm, the visible blue light should be just right, without the need of potentially dangerous UV light (<400).
Is that documentation incorrect, in that the shroomies also need UV light (in which case one can simply be added, to supply the "missing" part of the spectrum) or should the light at around 475nm be enough for pinning and stimulation of growth?

*edit*

It's easier for me to use the blue lights. That's why I'm asking.
Thanks, Rastaman

so from the one source that I could find numbers was from the ?old? mushroom cultivator book.
Basically it broke down to this, suggested: 140 microwatts per 10 nanometer, per lumen of blue spectra 440-495 nm.

I have only owned two types of blue lights one was soft blue in clour and emited a "full spectrem" wave lanth. The other was a florescent light and it was a long time ago havent bought a new one yet. and when it was on you would think it was a regural light unless some one told you that it was blue spectrum becouse it just seemed like a clean bright light.
