Bigger pinns on second flush?

The Hooligans cased 3 pints of fully colonized popcorn innoc. with Creepers from syringe. The First pinset was great literally 175+ pinns! The only problem is the individual size of each pinn head or cap was overall small.Somewhat skinny stalks with tiny caps.

Now the second flush is comming in and now just as many pinns but much larger all together. Both stems AND caps look to be larger in the second flush as opposed to the first flush at about the same time in the pinning process.

My question is..... Why bigger the second flush?

Also .....Should The Hoolligans let the popcorn remain in the jar fully colonized longer??

And.... How much in the way of water does the casing layer provide the maturing primordia? And does this play a factor in the overall size of each individual mushroom taking into account mushrooms are 90% water?

my first flush on creeper were extremely tiny....the tallest shroom was like 3 or 4 inches

my second flush pins are showing up...so i will know the difference in a few days

There are alot of reasons why your 2nd flush could be larger, so its difficult to say. You have to examine what parameters changed in the way you handled flush 1 vs 2. there is a school of thought running around that aborts (the small guys that dont mature) are highly correlated with proper air exchange. Again you have to determine what was done different between flush 1 and 2. If you want more consisten results, search the forum for "pinning strategies" and you should have a good starting point for the future.

Not sure of the reason but it is very common for 2nd flush shrooms to be bigger.

The 2nd flush is typically bigger because the pinset is more even. If one waits long enough while incubating in a dark place, the first flush will typically be the biggest, such as is seen when fruiting off straw.

I was trying to come up with a "clogged toilet" joke here...
