psssst word on the street is that coke owns caffeine and every time you buy a coffee from timhortons or or any drink with caffeine from anywhere coke gets like some money

Ya one of my good friends works for Coke and his job is to go into foreign countries EX. Ethiopia, south america, and sometimes they even send him to Hawaii, lucky bastard. And when he gets there he has to go around looking for coffee plantations, he is then given jurisdiction over any coffee producing operations, he then takes a tally of their caffeine production and gets them to pay Coca Cola company, based on his tally, their dues to them for their use of the caffeine patent. And coke has thousands of these guys traveling around the world doing this, making sure they get all their caffeine moneys.

Sorry guys, I call complete and utter bullshit. Anyone familiar with patent life? Look it up. Patents are not, and have never been, indefinite. They are for finite periods of time, usually not exceeding 20, 25 years. That is why drug companies fear genericization of their drugs. Think about it.... Moreover, natural products contained in plants are even more difficult to retain patent protection on.
