Codeine restrictions - Cold and Flu tablets

So I've got this nasty virus and I decided I needed some pain relief to help go about my daily routine. Went to the chemist and bought some cold and flu tablets (containing codeine, paracetamol and pseudoephedrine). Silly me however didn't look at the dosages of each tablet.

Got home and just checked - 6mg codeine. :mad2: wtf is that going to do? I can only take two at once coz they have 500mg paracetamol each so effectively they will provide me with 12mg of codeine worth of of pain relief. Another way of looking at it might be to say no pain relief. What's the fucking difference? I've had prescription codeine before which was 30mg a tablet so effectively 60mg a dose, even that barely took the edge off moderate pain.

So if 60mg of codeine is only JUST enough to take the edge off a similar degree of pain, what's a 12mg dose going to do? Add to the ingredients label on the packet? Fuck the government and their ever increasing paranoia over codeine tablets. I used to be able to buy 15mg codeine pills OTC and now the best I can get is 6mg, WHY!?

Be thankful you can get Codeine OTC period. America sucks.

Honestly 6mg of codeine is no different to 0mg. But yes America's laws on codeine are bullshit you're right. And now the rest of the world is following their example...
