I think spectating sports are stupid in general.

There is no other point to playing a game than playing the game.  Simple games like what we classify as sports provide helpful motor experience, but only if you play them, which is why spectating is stupid.  Hand/eye coordination and spontaneous fine motor control are only learnable first hand, you can't watch people do that and expect to be the shit.

If sports continue to be excepted in the world they should by shifted away from spectatorship and moved towards mass participation.  Think of games based on geotaging places with GPS.  Any person who makes it to the top of half dome - 1,000 points, any one who makes it to the top of Everest - 100,000 points.

Kind of like achievements on xbox.  You could  even use things from old sports, any one to play baseball at a certain field 10 point, hit a home run during that game 10 more points per HR.

All that may be a little extreme, main point being spectating a sport should be frowned upon and participation in a common activity should be promoted.

It was created by a Canadian guy who moved to the states.

"James Naismith left many diaries and interviews that explain how and when he created basketball. Massachusetts had cold winters, and people wanted a game that could be played inside. Naismith was a Canadian teacher, born in Almonte, Ontario on the 16th of November, 1861.[1] Naismith was an orphan from early in his life, and his uncle led him to study Hebraism and philosophy, to train to become a priest."

That still doesn't sound like canada had much of a hand in creating basketball.  They didn't need to cuz up there they know how to have fun in the cold weather.  I mean, nothing is more enjoyable than slashing away at some french canadian's shin with a hockey stick, eh?

Well the guy himself was made in Canada - that's something I guess

Even though I'm Canadian, I'm not a real fan of hockey - football, and I mean REAL football is right up my alley
:trolldance:

Ha!  Im American and I find hockey to be the highest of all sporting events...I think football is only fun to watch when you are drinking massive amounts of booze...that goes for both the American version or the "rest of the universe" version
