Strictly IMO.

I think sports in the US are pretty homo.

I mean - what kind of an idiot names the game "football" when the foot and the ball actually meet maybe for half of a 1% of the entire game span?

Baseball is just stupid. I think the only reason people go to baseball games is to get shitfaced on really expensive beer.
..and you forced the poor japanese people play the idiotic game by means of your imperialistic ventures.

I thought this post was gonna be longer but THANK GOD Americans could invent only two sports (basketball is a team effort with Canada).

Definitely the opinion of a nerdy little chump or fat lazy bastard. And even those types of people can enjoy sports I guess, just look at the chicago bears fans. Are you sure you aren't just jealous that you were never able to play sports? Don't make up some lie about how you used to play them either.

I did grow up with sports. Dad was a coach even through my college years. Did Track in High School too. Even now I stay decently fit.

The problem with sports is that it tends to totally consume and distract people from something in life that may have an effect on the real world. Lets use Soccer as an example, in some countries people have been crushed by the mob trying to get closer to the game. Riots have started when teams have lost. People die because they are "fans". This is fucking retarded! The same thing goes for other sports, though typically its less extreme. And at the end of the day, how did that particular game, or any game for that matter. Have a positive and lasting effect on the world? In the moment it seemed so important that someone lost their life, and yet when it was over....No one gave a fuck.

Or look at this point of view. Players are signing million dollar contracts to play a fucking GAME. And on top of that go on strike because they dont make enough money. What kinda shit is that! What they should do is get a fucking job and become a contributing member of society.

Why single out baseball? Football certainly falls into this category too. Basketball is the only sport that I find even remotely fun to watch, but I'd never pay for a ticket to a NBA game. College games at good schools are just as exciting and never more than $5 dollars.

Sports are okay for watching at times, and playing them can be fun, but I absolutely hate sports fans. The people that roll their eyes at you when you don't know who they are referring to in draft picks and shit, more normally referred to as "Jock sniffers".

My cousin is a sports nut, and tries to know everything about every player in every sport there is, and it's pretty annoying. Every time he has a party at his house, it's him sitting in front of ESPN or SportsCentre with glazed over eyes, while half the party drinks and the other half huddles around him and watches it like they actually give a shit about basketball.

yea i always say, you can learn more from getting high than watching fucking sports. personally i think its a waste of time.  its funny to see someone that might rip on weed and then sit down for three hours staring at a bunch of guys throwing around a ball and crashing into each other.  somehow being an alcoholic and sports fanatic is more acceptable than smoking weed lol.

I was under the impression that is was already based on an ancient central american game. Aztec, Incan, or some such culture.

It was created by a Canadian guy who moved to the states.

"James Naismith left many diaries and interviews that explain how and when he created basketball. Massachusetts had cold winters, and people wanted a game that could be played inside. Naismith was a Canadian teacher, born in Almonte, Ontario on the 16th of November, 1861.[1] Naismith was an orphan from early in his life, and his uncle led him to study Hebraism and philosophy, to train to become a priest."

That still doesn't sound like canada had much of a hand in creating basketball.  They didn't need to cuz up there they know how to have fun in the cold weather.  I mean, nothing is more enjoyable than slashing away at some french canadian's shin with a hockey stick, eh?
