Perlite and Vermeculite, same?

Couldn't find any vermeculite at the store but I found per... and should I grind it up for a finer perlite, like how it says in the PF-Tek that finer vermeculite is better than the larger coarse stuff...

No , they are two totally different things .
Perilite does not work well in substrates .
It will , but is not as good as verm .

Perlite is volcanic glass, vermiculite is a product made from mica

I used peat moss that I chopped up in a blender. It worked great. just watch the water content
