bottom layer - perlite vs vermiculite * 1

I am about to make a casing now and I cant decide if I am going to use a bottom layer of verm or perlitte. Im thinking perlite sounds more tempting but what will happend to this layer when I want to dunk the casing after first flush?

I'll be doing this experiment very shortly. In the mean time, I suggest casing mix, verm or nothing. Perlite is definitely a big question mark at the moment.

Dont use a bottom layer is my suggestion.

i've seen (from a friends grow) perlite as a bottom casing layer with GREAT success!

Interesting topic! I read a post about a week ago where the poster was unable to find vermiculite for BRF jars. Instead, he used perlite! His jars were colonizing, so I'm betting that perlite would work as a substrate below the mycelium.

They were colonizing, but i don't think they fruited.
