Amazing Striaght Verm Casing Results!

First off keep checking this post for pictures. I will be posting them this evening!

So my friend has two casings, both are plain old brown rice cased in striaght verm. My friend has been taking great care of his little babies waiting for the day when he whould see his first pin. In only 4 days he saw his first knot forming, and he was jumping for joy cause he knew if things are done right there was no reason why they wouldn't pin. So he went to bed that night with a big smile. He got up the next day to the alarm clock buzzing that sound everyone hates, and the first thing that came to his mind was fan the casings. So he did only to discover millions of knots everywhere and 4 very small pins already forming. This excited him very much sence he had already failed at 4 other casing attempts. So to make such a great story a little shorter he contiuned to take care of them and it is now 3 days from when he saw his first pins, and he now has counted in total 121 pins between the two casings. He thinks there is more than that plus knots that havent formed to pins yet. So the next time I see someone bad mouth a striaght verm casing, I will send them here!! Also remeber tonight I will post pictures!!

That doesn't mean straight verm doesn't suck compared to other casing methods.

Great to hear though, I hope all those pins mature!

They don't suck! They just aren't the best. For them to suck they would have to be doing alot worse than they are. I hope they all mature too but what are the odds of that???

I thought perlite was doing real good too until all my pins (oh and I had alot) turned to aborts because it did not have the water retention needed to produce mature fruitbodies. That is why you will find most people using coir as it has wonderful water retention. Verm will work, but the more money you put into your casing the more rewards you will reap.

my friend cased with all verm as it seemed the easiest to do and this is his very first time trying to grow shrooms. He said that the first flush in incredible (compared the cakes he had going) but his second flush was kind of weak. He thinks its that way because the verm dried out (i dont think he misted it after the first flush to rehydrate it)

also, he told me he had some parts of the casing fruit and mature before other parts. Maybe he didnt wait long enough for the mycelumto 'connect' everywhere?

course Vermiculite works quite well for the price and the lack of PH correction.

ya same here-its not something you see very often is straight verm casings with 'too many' pins!!

Well I will try to get pics up, but I have a update!! First harveest came of my malabar and I can count the aborts. I had only 6 aborts, and had about 60 + mature babies!!!!!!!! Amazing Results. Verm casing works. But now im on to trying bigger and better things :-) POOO!!!
