How to survive Oakland (now a renegade thread)

Hey guys :laugh:
I'm going to a renegade in oakland tonight. I'm so excited and have been looking forward to this all week. But being an 18 year old white guy is going to be scary.
Advice?
No psychedelics since this is rather sketchy. probably just a point or 2 of molly.

Oakland just makes me think of the Omni and the houndreds of death metal bands I have seen there and the Grateful Dead parking lot at the Coliseum. God damn the 90's where good, maybe a little hazy but damn...
Oh the late 80's where pretty good also, watching the A's in there prime years.

It's right next to Berkeley. The Oakland posse is used to seeing nerdy white and asian kids, plus the usual assortment of hipsters and dykes (lesbian central = oakland). It's becoming gentrified. Besides, the trick to outsmarting the streets is easy. I've done it many times.

You just stay moving if you're in a car. If you're going somewhere, go there, and don't wander around on foot outside anywhere.

I ride my bike through rough parts of LA frequently. You think any of those cheese eating negros are going to catch me? I don't think so.

Lots of those hoods' are actually out of shape lowlifes. They're really nothing to be scared of.

I went looking for a house once in Oakland, off of E-14th street.  As I approached the address, the density of boarded up buildings with suspicious looking-black guys leaning against them increased until it looked like Crack House City, and I turned around and drove slowly out of that neighborhood, deciding NOT to rent a house there.

I've been to quite a few renegades/underground parties in Oakland. It's really not a big deal, the most common occurrence is cars being broken into while everyone is at the party. If you're driving, I'm assuming you're parking a ways down from the party as to not bring attention to and blow up the spot. But there's been many undergrounds & renegades I've been to where cars have been broken into, so don't leave valuables in the car. That would be my main concern, rather then worrying about getting mugged or jumped or something haha...



Just don't be walking alone across town to get to where ever the renegade is going down. I know of a few spots where this renegade you speak of might be going down :uptosomething:. And don't do anything stupid that will bring attention to the party....

Oakland is not bad. Its reputation is way out of proportion. I'm a scrawny white boy and I've walked through some of the worst parts alone without ever having any trouble. Bring some pepper spray if you're really concerned. :shrug:

I walked around Oakland all fucking day wearing a nice watch, Jordans and a backpack... I even had to go to some shady spots to score some bud.

But I am a beast. They didnt wann nun.

I had no problems, other than this one guy on the Bart who was drunk at 1pm, threw some papers into the seat in front of his and said "Don't sit there"... If he hadn't been polite to my lady friend I might have wanted to hit him in the face right after he got off the Bart and then hopped back in right before the doors closed. That would have been fun.
