Simple electronics question

I have a fan that I want to run from a 9v battery. How can I stop the battery from going flat so quickly?

Get a fan that requires less power to run, or use a 9V ac adapter to run the fan and ditch the battery.

Edit: If you want to get really fancy, you would use pulse width modulation, depending upon your fan of course, to gain more life out of the battery. Do a search on pulse width modulation and brushless DC motor controllers for some insight. My guess is that this is more work than you are wanting.
