Cakes nearing the end of life?
    #1420737 - 03/31/03 11:18 PM (21 years, 2 days ago)

My friend has had 6 PF cakes going in her terrarium for a month or so now. Each cake has given 2-3 flushes to his point. She's been dunking them between flushes and getting good results out of them (around 30g dry to this point with a couple more cakes starting to flush now.)

She asks me to relay her thanks for all the help this site and these forums have been in this, her introduction to growing.

Anyhow, she has another question for you all:
Some of these cakes, as noted, have flushed several times now and appear to be a gold/tan colour on their surface. In some instances it even appears to be a light brownish orange. It doesn't seem to be a displacement of the mycelium, just a discolouration of it.
Is this a contaminant or something else? It doesn't look like it's the colour of the verm being visible through the mycelium.
Sadly she has no digital camera and can't include photos.

Any input would be most appreciated.
