WU is dodge central in that you've no come back if the shit hits the fan and the person legs it with your money so I doubt you'd need id for it.

No. I have sent WU using all fake info before. But the name of the person you're sending the money to will need to match their ID perfectly.

To send money through WU the person sending the money will not need to use their real data, but you will need to give the person picking up the money the exact data you used (including amount of money sent) as it will be required for the pick-up. Unless you are in Nigeria or some other scam central shithole where the WU agent is in on the scheme they will also need a valid official document of ID and the 10 digit MTCN (Money Transfer Control Number).

Check the rates for Moneygram and Western Union online. To some destinations one or the other is cheaper. Not much but at least up to 10 bucks. Some vendors of whatever you are buying also prefer one of those services for whatever reason. Moneygram is usually more easy going than WU, but not as readily available equally for sending and pickup as WU is.

My payment method of choice: Cash in mail. Discreet. No fees involved. Money transfer fees are hefty. Sometimes 10% of the value of the goods you are purchasing. Of course that requires trust, but so does any online transaction unless you are using an escrow service. And given that you want the product and the vendor wants the money a mutual initial trust is mandatory anyways.
