playing .avi vid's?

oki, so i downloaded slc punk.avi from kazaa, and i tried opening it with quicktime, which said a file was missing (but didnt specify which one), and all icould hear was the sound. so i tried using gdivx, and again, all i could hear was sound. then i tried another played, and still... no picture. oi. it cant be a sound clip, the file is like 650000kb. that be a pretty big fuckin sound clip. does anyone know what i can do to play this movie please?

AVI files can be created with a huge number of codecs. Try hitting this page, which is one of the FAQ pages for alt.binaries.multimedia. If that doesn't get you to a codec that works, try a google search on avi codec. There are also programs which will tell you which codec was used to encode an avi file.

(any ideas where i can get more movies? kazaa seems to go slow, even with dsl)

Thank you soooo much for that link. I can now watch Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers! I've been pissed for so long cause I couldn't watch it, but now I can!!
