My post wasnt implying I take it just for fun I take it for both reasons, what I meant was is that anyone who takes it so seriously that they frown upon a person who doenst want to take every trip so seriously and sometimes just want to trip and have a fun night of laughing and acting crazy with a few good friends is ridiculous.  Whether for fun or introspection nobody is taking it the "right" or "wrong" way

the only one claiming someone is somehow more intelligent based on the way they take psychedelics is you.

it doesn't make someone a bad person if they're intuitive enough to be able to come up with new ideas on psychedelics. it also doesn't make them more intelligent. it just means they're more intuitive

so you enjoy the effects they have on your senses? some people enjoy the effects they have on their thought patterns.

one isn't better than the other stop with all this elitist nonsense

so then why hate on someone for sharing their point of view? If nobody is doing it the 'right' way or the 'wrong' way?

I think it might be because, here, there's a lot of people who may like psychedelics, but who've never really taken those insights and really applied them to life. They just work whatever shitty job and trip on the weekends because that's when they can get enough space to ignore their living situation. So they see Joe, who's life by all accounts must be pretty awesome, and it pushes their buttons. They picture themselves as like, I dunno, kind of oppressed or whatever, with a hint of "psychedelic use makes me different," but Joe's rockin' the high life and trippin' on mushrooms to boot. They can't handle it.

Cuz of this type of elitist bullshit.

solely from the videos and news ive seen and heard him say

joe is a cool guy just as any other human but the fact that he acts as if he knows "the truth" just because he's tripped and broken through upsets me b/c it seems like any other human who does something personally novel then acts  like he/she was the first ever and then only human to do so then never talks about anything else (typical of high school or sheltered people)

yeah its neat but being assertive and acting as he knows everyones truth is a bold claim and makes you seem like any other human trying to push ideas on you and telling you yours suck rather then living and let live and attracting others to a possibly more positive idea/actions if you are trying to do so which i think he is just no in the best way

i'm not the one complaining

In my mind, there is a difference between complaining and offering constructive criticism. Almost none of my behavior is determined by the fact that I think Joe Rogan could be making less destructive decisions .

I applaud his intent. He is excited about this stuff, he tripped his balls off, etc.

I dislike Rogan's stuff about psychedelics for the same reason I dislike the Zeitgeist Movement... he is so caught up in himself, and his own enthusiasm, and his own message, that he is willing to sacrifice being truthful and accurate in favor of being attractive (ideologically) and popular.

I don't. But I used to. And I used to run around telling people that DMT was responsible for dreaming.

Now I regret having done so.

Um no i hate him because he rants and raves about tripping like a fucking highschooler who just ate a half 1/8 of shrooms or a hit of acid for the first time.

Yeah, well, psychedelics need to be talked about more. They need more
attention brought to them because clearly the enormous potential they hold is unlike anything else in the world and most of the world is not only blind to their benefits but scared of their ability to dissolve a most likely poorly constructed view of reality they cling to.

From an intellectual or philosophical standpoint, idk what is more crucial or necessary to talk about than psychedelics and the realities experienced through them.

You just sound like you are trying to maintain the illusion of being a cooler, more legit, chiller psychedelic user. How dare someone be so enthusiastic! Don't they know that's totally not cool? Pssshht...lames...

I would never get pissed or impatient with an overzealous  'highschooler' for being so fascinated and excited about psychedelics. I would be happy for their enthusiasm and breakthrough because I'm not competing with them.

I don't hate him, he's just no Bill Hicks.

He's pretty cool though.

Yeah well he is who he is and does what he does. Appreciate hi
For that instead of holding him to the standards of your previous pseudo-savior of the movement. I'm sure he does more for it than you do.

Dude you are taking it the wrong way, I was the exact highschooler that you are describing when I first tried pyschedelics so when i see joe rogan talking like he does it makes me feel like "man I guess I was that annoying back when all i talked about was tripping" and makes him seem not very mature about it.  And also I dont even use pyschs anymore and havent tripped in over 2 years so saying I think Im a "cooler more legit user of them" is not true since I dont even take them anymore.

Newsflash lots of people on this site take them in order to have a good time, anyone who takes them so seriously that they have to sit in a dark fucking room the whole time meditating every single time they trip arent anybody I want to trip with.  Tripping can expand your mind but its also a hell of a good time and anyone who takes it just for fun isnt somehow less intelligent than some blow hard who thinks he's a shaman because he can eat an 1/8 of mushrooms.

Your problem is that you somehow think "bettering yourself" and "fun" are two separate activities.
People who actually work to better themselves do so BECAUSE THEY ENJOY IT. Joe Rogan is a good example.
