Noobs/trolls giving dosage advice in psychedelic experience

I've been a member here for a while. I've seen an alarming(to me) trend of noobs and trolls giving reckless dosage advice lately in the psychedelic experience forum. I feel like someone should have to have been a member here for some length of time before being allowed to dispense recommendations on dosage. It just worries me. I don't want people having freakouts and spreading bad news about psychedelics.

I feel like a large part of the message of the shroomery is to provide positive knowledgeable advice about the mushroom and psychedelic experience, and I feel that this compromises this message.

What do others think about this?

Actually, I believe any sort of dosage advice about any drug is not allowed here. The mods aren't doing their jobs in there, methinks.

I've seen veterans dispense equally bad advice.

Fact is, with any new mushroom, magic or otherwise, you should go easy the first time.
That's standard advice from all hunting manuals and cookbooks that cover the subject.
It's possible to be allergic to mushrooms the first time you eat them, unusual for a food allergy.

But I've seen a respected member suggest that a newb eat "a handful, ten grams or more". :shrug:

I know that's a posted rule in ODD, but I'm not sure about Psych Exp (I'll read them again). Moderation does seem pretty light in there these days though.

I just read the Psych Exp rules and it says anyone can give advice but to take advice with a grain of salt essentially.

That would make me feel better. Just cuz they are natural doesn't mean some unstable person isn't gonna flip out and do something stupid on them. Those kind of sensational scenes are exactly what the media has been using for decades to discredit psychedelic use.

It has nothing to do with the drugs being natural, but with a low overdose risk.

Bad advice may at worst result in a intense bad trip. In general, there are enough replies with good advice to overrule the stupid advice.

intense bad trips can also result in suicides, police incidents, bad press for psychedelics etc.

Well there is so much information on psyches online that if somebody read a comment on the shroomery and as a result downed 10 dried gs their first time...there was probably no hope for them anyway.

I honestly couldn't tell you the last time I saw any moderation happen in that forum. I look at the list of moderators and the vast majority are people who I rarely see on here anymore.

I don't officially moderate that forum but I do frequent it and if I see posts that need attending to I do so.

Dosage advice in that forum isn't the problem I think. It's the influx of RC and opiate related threads that bother me.

Well, dosage advice is allowed in TPE.  That's exactly why RCs aren't allowed in there.  dosage advice on RCs can be dangerous, but traditional psychedelics are, as W_S put it, GRAS.  Dosage advice isn't really a big deal for them.

I think it is more of a concern about people that are unfamiliar with the drugs taking too much, rather than it being members he doesn't like.

So basicly its still another slerr against people new to this forum correct? So everyone should think that if someone is new to this forum they are ignorant correct? Im new to this forum and been doing psychodelics for 20 odd years, i also have a masters degree in organic chemistry- i know syntheses for entheogens that would make you A:rich or B:tripp for free for ever. but being new to this forum i guess im ignorant so i wont share. by the way, when is the last time any "old schoolers" placed an order with shroomery Sponcer's?

I don't mean this against anyone new, I just get concerned when I see so many noobs giving reckless dosage advice. It sounds like you are perfectly qualified to yourself, but I see so many morons that are all like "DUDE, just eat it all!" without considering the possible repercussions of their stupid advice.
