Black Swan, the movie
    #13934673 -

I've just seen it (it was just released in France) and I think it's the best work of Aronofsky so far. It's just pure emotions, it games me the chills. It has a been while since I had last felt like that after a movie.

Have you seen it? What did you think of it?

For once we agree on something. That movie really got under my skin, in a way I thoroughly enjoyed. Goosebumps.

it was creepy. But that's what made it enjoyable. Oh and the lesbian sex scene :naughty:

Yeah, that was like the icing on the delicious cake of paranoid psychosis.

I actually preferred the masturbation scene.
But they were both very good.

I thought the movie was lame, if they were gonna make natalie portman a schizophrenic person waiting to flip out they could of done a wayyyy better job then the way they shot it.

I couldn't get through the first half hour of the movie.....snoozefest.....but then again I am big on plot, heroic characters and some kind of decent action in my movies.

I liked the gritty style, and it made me paranoid the way there were always things happening in the corners and stuff, and with all the crazy angles. I thought it was pretty effective.

It's my favorite film of 2010. I was tense through most of the film, and in awe during some parts. 5/5.

For a girl maybe, but i just didnt think they did a good job at all, all that crazyness for a big scene witch was her turning into a black swan witch was CGI because of course a person cant turn into a black swan, but even in a theatrical way for a play or any type of stage performance, why the fuck did they have her turn into a swan through CGI? wtf was the point, we already know shes fucking crazy lol is it supposed to tie in with that, or just make people say wow that was cool but makes no sense.. a lot of her mutilating her self but not really  happening through the whole movie, then her finaly killing herself even tho she thinks she kills the other girl, but it so conviniently ties in with the ending of the black swan story.... lammmmeee

I'll agree with you the CGI swan was kind of silly.

Didn't you realize that it was a brilliant adaptation of the real story of Swan Lake? (For those who haven't seen the movie, don't read)
A young virginal girl tries desperately to transform herself in the white swan she wishes to be, killing her evil twin - within herself - in the process.
I thought it was pretty clear that the very mobile camera was made to immerge us into Nina's subjectivity. The scene where she becomes a swan herself is a metamorphosis to her; she abandons herself to the play, reaching perfection.
Really, I don't think it was too much, it was the acme of the movie.

There's no "convenience" about the ending because her becoming one with the story is the whole point of the movie!

Some said it was a movie about dance or about a personnality disorder, but if you know the rest of Aronofsky's work, you know that it's not the case.

It was a show but remained sober most of the time, and that's also a great strenght. Making us doubt about the very existence of Lily, melting what is real and what is not, was a great choice, as we are thrown right into Nina's furiously growing madness. The photography helped a great deal, as images such as Nina's reflection in a subway window or the muscles of the thin dancers, dancing themselves like a choir really gave this work the suggestive power it needed. The editing was also flawless, invisible through the movie, allowing us to see Nina and her evil twin at the same place, at the same time, but not in the same screen, leaving us uncertain about her reality.
The image was beautiful, the sountrack was majestic, and it was a plot about pure emotions, no hidden message whatsoever, no twist, no surprise, it's a tragedy in a classic sense but still modern in its original treatment of the Swan Lake.
