mmmkay landlord stuff.

So the other day I tried to use the drain plug in my restroom for the first time and found it to be welded into place with the gunky calcium-style buildup. I yanked it hoping to pop it lose, and it plugged the drain and broke off in one smooth motion. Great, right? I took the little plate off and tried to unplug it to no avail. So, with my lack of tools I called my landlord and asked them to get someone out here to help me.

Anyway Monday comes around, standing pool of water still in tub, and I see them try to call me (or, I assume because the number was withheld) while I am in class. Damn right they should deal with it quickly, while I am paying 350/mo (flat rate util included) for 1/6 of a large house that they renovated into an apartment style building.

Anyway I get home and they've already just waltzed right in and fixed it. Old drain cover gone, new one installed- the type without a drain plug (this will be important later). Junked parts in my waste bin. Don't they have to make some confirmation with the tenant before just walking right in, even if the tenant asks for some service? Fortunately, I had put my one-hitter up, but more than anything it was just creepy.

So, even if they bent the rules a bit, that was fine and whatever because I appreciated the swift help. Then I got home today and there's a new fucking drain plug sitting on the rim of my tub.

How creepy is that shit?

I don't know if it varies by state but around here the landlord must give 24 hour notice before entering the apartment.

No, I am, but it's a little weird that they would risk that because I thought 24 hours notice meant actually making contact or at least leaving a message or something.

They better not say shit about my pythons, or I am going to loose them on their women. I know I am not technically allowed to have them, but damn man, they live in a box.

That's how it is in Minnesota. I thought it applied everywhere.

Did your landlord leave a message? AFAIK, they need to give you notice, which means more than a call to your cell with no message. Though as said this might vary state to state, what are the laws in your state blujay?

I'd be a little freaked out too, since I like my privacy and all.

Thank god for that law. I've had to help people break down whole operations, pack it into a u haul then set it back up again at a new location all before the sun came up.

There's such a thing as landlord tenant laws for a reason. Although until OP tells us what state he lives in it's kind of a moot point.

I'm not well versed on these laws, but I have rented before. I'm assuming OP actually spoke with someone, described the problem and they said they'd send someone over. It also seems that more than 1 day passed since the phone call. I'm pretty sure that constitutes 24 hour notice.

Yeah my first apartment was a shit hole and they never did anything about it, and then when they did they called the cops because it smelled like weed.

Even though it was 1/2 of a house and I didn't smoke weed.

So. Yeah. I'll be thanking them.
