Stress? You don't know what stress is!
    #13842261 -

After cracking the screen on my Nokia 5800 for the second time, I decided to buy a new LCD screen on eBay rather than forking out the extra cash to pay someone to replace it for me. When looking back, this seemed a great idea at the time. Hindsight really is a bitch!

Once the screen had arrived, I began dismantling the phone and ended up completely fucking every thing up. I guess this was down to my poor lack of patience and my fat fingers. It no longer switched on and I was left with nothing more than an expensive paper weight. Without much choice in the matter, I ended up having to buy myself a new phone. After a little research, I picked myself up a HTE Blade. Its a fairly cheap phone running Android and in all honesty, its nothing but a pain in the ass. People kept telling me how good smart phones are but it just seems more complicated than its worth. I use a phone to make calls and send the occasional text... nothing else.

Whats the moral of this story? Erm.. I'm not sure but I can safely say this weekend was far more stressful than I had ever imagined. The next time (and there will be a next time) that I crack my screen, I think I'll just pay the extra cash (rather than being Jewish) and get someone who knows what their doing to fix it! :crankey:

I'd try to find out what I was doing that causes me to break the screens of my phones.

I've never broke one of mine?

Why you bought a smartphone if you use it only for calls and texting?

Smart phones are the shit though, if you honestly have the money to pay the extra fees and replacement WHEN it breaks. That being said I have a shitty phone because I don't need the stress or the bills that come with a nice phone.

Sorry about your phone mang

or you can buy a brick of a phone like i have.

its sturdy as hell; ive dropped it on the ground more times than i can count and it hasnt been damaged at all.

it isnt as pretty as having a 'smart phone', and i dont have any cool apps. but like you said, i only use it for making calls and sending the occasional text.

So you're saying that a broken phone is a huge source of stress?

seriously?

Moral of the story is patience and doing research on shit, so you don't break stuff you need and don't buy stuff you don't.

I discovered what stress truly was in early December, when I had my car totaled and my head ripped open by a senior citizen during finals week, setting off a long adventure through the bureaucratic nightmare insurance companies use to mind-fuck you out of any lies you might be telling. My insurance company literally sent me a letter telling me I might get my insurance cut if I didn't answer their calls; this was ironic, considering they never called me and it took them a week to answer my calls.

You don't know stress. :crankey:

Oh wow, I didn't realize Nokia made good phones.  While reading your thread, I said to myself: "just buy a new one, they're 25$"

Here's my phone.

I have an HTC Hero, and although I love all of the features, I don't think the hardware is fast enough to run as smoothly as it should.  Half the time I want to throw it out the window, and half the time I don't know what I would do without it.  My phone and I definitely have a love-hate relationship!

The fire has many things to teach.
But so does the human experience.. which is like fire, sometimes you just need to stoke the coals and sometimes you just need to add a log or reposition the log matrix. But a well built fire will be much more self-sustaining than a poorly built one, and they all need love to grow. And don't fuck around or your might burn yourself. Must always respect the fire. - Shroomism

That's why I took out insurance on my phone. I haven't had to use it yet, but it's there just in case.

I also like to think that the silicone thing I put on it will protect it if I drop it, but I doubt that would be the case.

Yeah, the one I have has the best camera (in a phone) on the market right now. It's nice being able to carry around just my phone instead of camera, phone, and mp3 player.

When you work with something that small you gotta have some patience. And if you have fat fingers, you'll need some tweezers.

You can search online for a service manual for your phone. Take it back apart and see what you did wrong. Something inside just might not be aligned correctly.

I think its fun swapping parts out on something so small.

I fucking hate smartphones. I want my phone to call and text people, I don't want all that other bullshit. Not to mention those expensive plans and the fact that everyone I know that has one is always getting them replaced cause they always break.

I had a razor for 4 years, I lost one off a roller coaster, and got another one, and the screen cracked. When I went to get a new one, I told the guy "give me a phone that won't break." Now I have a tank of a phone that both calls and texts people.
