But that's not the point, I simply don't understand why ameircans seem to think that their guns are the only thing keeping the government from storming their homes? And it hasn't been explained to me who from the government they are afraid of, and why would they storm their homes?

I don't think many people believe that this is imminent, it's just an insurance policy. During WWII the fed gov rounded up all the Asians and stripped them of their homes to throw them in camps, spurred by fear of espionage. Many of them never got their property or lives back.

And so the logic behind this is that if the feds come to your house saying you're dangerous so we're going to take you away, and you respond by attempting to kill them, that they're just going to give up?

We invaded Iraq for the fuck of it, there is no way that some random ass guy is going to stop the federal govt with a .357

No. I don't know how this can be any simpler. Here's a secnario:

Federal government decides Democratic Republic isn't good for GDP. People start getting raided without reasonable justification. Rights are broken and denied. People form militia and fight back, armed with guns. Yes, I might die if such a situation arose. In fact I probably would be killed. You might die too, but in confinement on your knees instead of in the streets on your feet.

Look what happens when our big bad military steps up to third world countries that don't even have defense budgets: we kill more of them, but in the end our hyper-advanced military tucks tail and leaves in defeat. It doesn't matter if it's Nam or Iraq or Texas. A moderately armed civilian population is a serious threat to the biggest military on earth.

The U.S. also has to have the international community in mind, if the U.S. is going to start killing its own citizens it probably doesn't give a shit about what other countries think at that point and thus probably wouldn't restrain itself at all.

The most that will happen with gun control right now is that maybe they'll outlaw extended clips.  In any case, the only guns I'd ever think of buying are maybe a shotgun and a hunting rifle, and those guns ain't going anywhere.

no way in hell they ban extended clips

maybe, MAYBE, they might reclassify them as NFA III, probably not though.

Praise god and pass the ammunition!!!

How the hell does a democratic government decide that democracy isn't good for GDP anymore? They like all sit around the table and raise their hands? And after it's decided they go on to discuss if vegetarians have in fact the right to not eat meat?

At that point, wouldn't you want to have a gun if you were here? Our country was founded by people who had just dealt with a tyrannical government fucking them in the ass. They were a handful of colonists with a small arsenal and they won against the largest army on earth (that's called a direct parallel!). Knowing that history repeats itself and governments are prone to corruption and greed, how do you not understand this? How would it be better for an individual or a society to just assume that this would never happen again and give up their right to own guns?

Praise mother nature and the crystals that give us power! We don't need anything but Peace and Love!  :stonedjerk:

How it might happen is arbitrary semantics. What matters is that if it does, we have the ability to overthrow solely b/c of our right to bear arms. I kicked your weak argument in the teeth and now you're looking for little pieces to chisel away at.

Still waiting for an answer as to how it would benefit anybody to get rid of personal gun ownership...

You fuckers where just to cheap to pay taxes and I seem to remember the French playing a pretty big role in deafeating the British. And the forces weren't really that disproportionate as you make it seem. Learn history then talk.

"arbitrary semantics" - sorry, you're using it wrong. I wasn't the one arguing for gun outlwaing, but it sure as hell would benefit all those you know, being killed by guns, it's a lot harder to kill a lot of people with a knife or an axe.

My point is that it is highly unlikley that the government will brake your door in and you could kill all of them with a gun, a "taking over" of sorts would be way more insidious and playing on the wishes and desires of the population to gain support, you know, politics. So guns would be irrelevant in that situation.

So as a conclusion, the only thing you kicked today might have been a gay butt with the tip of your penis.

Right, well I just dont see why you think the GOV will not try at some point to
either make it extremely hard to get a gun or by ammo or what have.

Just look at our rights being violated in the name of security these days.

BTW Im in no shape to carry on a long conversation or argument FYI

I have lots of guns.  3 Rifles (30-06 and .270), 5 shotguns (3 12's and a 20 and a 16), 2 pistols (.45 and .22), 1 .22 rifle, and 1 pellet gun.

Bring it the fuck on.

I HONESTLY, HONESTLY hope that after ive lived a decent amount of my life a civil war, or zombie war, or SOMETHING that crumbles human society in america happens.

What an interesting and awesome way to die.  I would create a gang, and run around on bikes hahaha

Why live a boring life when you could be part of a crazy, historic thing.  I think it would be sooo interesting.

What the fuck?

Its about getting guns while you still can before they are taken from us.

That won't happen. You sound like the crazed republican gun owners that spread a national panic after the elections:

"OMG!! Obama is going to take our guns away!!"

In the end all what happened was there was a HUGE shortage of AMMO because idiots were stockpiling it. Heck, Walmart couldn't keep it on the shelf for a whole day!

He's my motto:

"You can have my gun when you pry it from my cold dead fingers."

(BTW, I'm a proud gun owner)

People think America is in this perfect little shell of existence where nothing
can or will go wrong. Im fucking sick of it. Not that I am worry about anything.
Because I am not. I do nothing but keep a positive mind weather it be in a good
or bad situation.

But stupidity drives me crazy

:rofl2: Dream on, dude.  There's no way that the citizens of the United States could take on the U.S. army, even if all 300 million men, women, and children were armed to the teeth.  Whether you agree with the right to bear arms or not, only the most fringe, illogical person would still think that anyone has that right so that they can overthrow the government.  Regardless what the Constitution says about fending off tyranny, it just couldn't happen, ever.

My body I will give to pleasures,

to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”
