OTC sleeping pills during a trip

Again, no search function, or I would look for it...
But.. if you ingested some fungi.. and were tripping at say.. a level 2-4 and you wanted it to be over.. but you had no access to xanax or any of the other commonly used 'trip ejectors', would OTC sleeping pills help any at all?
Would they have any affect?

Any detrimental effects?

Anyone know?

i have taken a 3x dose of over the counter sleeping pills and that was just to get to sleep after a trip and it didn't work. Not positive but i highly doubt it would do anything.

Alcohol or Kava Kava might help,but not as much as benzos.

I think mixing OTC sleeping pills with shrooms would be a bad idea.Most OTC sleeping meds are just antihistamines (Benadryl,Somninex,Tylenol PM) with some anticholinergic action.I doubt they would be too effective,and the anticholinergic might actually add some confusion to the trip.

there are some sleeping pills that sure would work....
my dad is the J&J manager here in Brazil and he told me that some sleeping pills can make you sleep, no matter which conditions you are in....but here taht are labeled "black label" and it is really hard to get them...

black label means that they interfeer on brain fuction and may cause addiction...it's almost impossible to get it without medical transcription....

my friend tried this during a hard mescaline trip. he took some Excedrin PM and tried to sleep. it didn't work but it helped him mellow out in his bed and kicked the trip down a few notches. (also, after an acid trip, my friend couldn't get to sleep and took some Excedrin PM. slept like a baby. so it helps during that awkward come down period with hard psychedelics.)

I take like four 25 mg Diphenhydramine HCl sleeping pills after I have come down to help me get to sleep. I've actually tried to take that same dose during a bad trip to calm myself down, but it didn't really have an impact. A nice way of calming yourself down is to sip on a glass of redwine... even though I hate wine, it really does do the trick for me.

The wine's a cool idea because it's an action that you can pay attention to all the subtle tastes and odors and hopefully that will help focus your mind into a good set. :cool:

As far as the simplist and effective way to quell a bad experience chemically you should have some spare benzodiazepines around.  I always have on reserve 10-40mgs valium during my psychedelic journeys in case of emergencies - luckily none yet.  OTC sleeping aids will likely not result in any toxic or dangerous interaction with a hallucinogen so long as you don't take half the bottle.  But on the other hand, I don't think they would be anywhere near as effective as a minor tranquilizer like the benzos.

I take any where form 10-15 benadyrl atleast 3-4 times a week for almost a year now, its fun i love the mild psychedellic effect of benadyrl me and my friends call it getting "whacked" loss of coodination and in general you become spun. I have combined with lsd a few times and everytime it leads a very "dark" trip and the mind fuck is pretty big, it will in no way stop you tripping just adds a dark element to it not for me.

like others said booze and benzos
