For one, the casinos (which are owned by the natives) employee nearly all the natives they can. The only jobs you see non-natives working are the card dealers, but even some of them are natives.

As for education.. Anyone here who goes to college and has ever applied for scholarships will be able to vouch for the large amount of scholarships and grant money that is only available to native americans.

Then again, I live in Arizona. I never felt this way when I lived in the midwest, but now that I have visited many reservations and have seen how a lot of them operate, I dont have very much sympathy for them.

EDIT: To actually respond to what you said, you know as well as I do that getting a higher education is pretty k3y to having choices in where you're going. Unless you're a classics major, of course.


I'm also saying that the indians have it so bad it makes the treatment slaves got look like vacation.

No amount of affirmative action is going to fix this.

It's a miniscule fraction of all the rest of the shit our gov't wastes money on to try to do whatever measly bit we do for them, and it's not enough.

Piss and moan about free rides for whoever else, but leave those poor fucks in the desert alone.

That employs what 70 people max maybe 100 depending on the size of the casino. The profits go into the coffers of the bands chief and council never to reach the pockets of the people. Monetary corruption is rampant on almost every reserve cause the governments turn a blind eye to it. We had to rally together and raise money for a forensic audit to get the corrupt fucks out of my reserves council they stole millions of dollars and where living in mansions while most of my people where living in poverty in slapped together houses, with almost every single last job on the reserve going to the family members of those on council. I could go on and on but you will just come up with some bullshit like "nah uh its there choice"

It isnt our governments job to provide for them. I think they monthly checks for living on the reservations is more than enough.

They have their own governments which are responsible for improving the living conditions on the res.

You cant be sovereign but then expect the US government to provide infrastructure and other services

The natives here tax the shit out of whitey whenever they get the chance. Like paying .40-.50cents more per gallon of gasoline because they know they have the only gas station for 50-100 miles sometimes. Not to mention everything else costs more

Have I seen some documentaries where some natives live in some horrible conditions, yes. Is it a little heart-breaking, yes. But it isnt the US governments job to step in.

government and the settlers tried to destroy, a few things were

Regardless of their legal status, they've surely been deprived of a whole lot more than .50c/gal on gasoline.

I'd say the gov't owes them a lot more than enough money to drink themselves to death on.

Dont understand what is racist about that. You think we should take tax payers money and dump it into improving the conditions of people who dont pay tax and who live in their own "country," with their own laws

It's a shame that corruption exists even in res politics but it isnt the US governments job to step in

edit- Ive stated my opinions. You guys are entilted to yours. But to call me racist because I dont believe it's our responsibility to provide for the res. I bet you think African Americans should be given their reparations as well.

Kid- it isnt a college students opinion. It is a college students experience in filling out applications for grants and scholarships. And it might just be this way in Arizona and other SW states due to the large number of reservations here.
