Regardless of the difference in damage that these drugs do to your body, dependence on either one of these drugs is not good.

Dependence on drugs isn't so bad. Many people are dependent on external things. Certain drugs are one of the better things out there if you ask me.

i think the real problem is in the level of addiction or addictive personality

I have friends addicted to various substances i'm not too fond of being used daily, but they are still otherwise relatively well-balanced people

the substances don't make them act crazy, and nor do they do crazy things to get them

but i also know people who act horrible (or at least very irresponsibly) while on substances, and do horrible things to get them

I did do that, and but you always sound like a douche saying it cause that is what every alcoholic/drug addict ever says. People who think weed is truely addictive are fucking retarded. Wanna know what else is addictive? Sex. Yet most people would feel much worse about a drug user than somebody who goes to a bar a few times a month to pick up a dude/chick. I'm gonna get this tattooed on my fucking eyeballs, I swear: "Everything is addictive if you love it enough."

I noticed no major negative impact when I quit smoking cigarettes, either. You can never discount the power of will. We should be applying "innocent until proven guilty" rules to being an idiot with what you put into your body, focus on regulation, and improve education...

Such an attitude has the added benifit of letting those of us who are responsible and capable of moderation all continue to drink those deliciously cough-syrup awesome beer malt caffiene death drinks, down mini cheesburgers six at a time for a dollar, and smoke ourselves numb to however the damn government finds out how to smear shit-stains all over our lives and tear families apart* next time.

*for nonviolent crimes that may involve eating entire bags of cheetos while watching ultimate cake battle shows

I mean, when do we all go at culture and suddenly it clicks -- Shit! we're all a bunch of complacent fatass stoners living viscerally in our horny over-indulged imaginations and they took the pot away.

No wonder people are getting their heads chopped off over this stupid plant.

All I can say is when I'm smoking daily I feel good and normal. But when I'm drinking daily I tend to feel like shit. I think that speaks volumes.

Very true.

I smoked weed regularly for years, but I can't say I was ever addicted. If I ran out and couldn't get any for a few days I wasn't sitting around jonesing or getting the shakes. :shrug:

When I did decide to quit smoking regularly it was only because weed made me tired, lazy, and hungry which led to me being a fatty. I didn't experience any kind of withdrawal symptoms.

Alcoholism is serious business on the other hand.. it has been the bane of my existence since I was born.

The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to selfishness;
From selfishness to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.

Alcohol being consumed everyday is much worse for the user, it's immediate family/friends and society then pot is... its just weed man.

I prefer smoking weed (and hash)  every day over drinking beer every day, (I do both), and I know which one is worse and actually  addictive...:drinklager: :shrug: . . . :peace:

because cannabis negative effects are completely subjective to the user, so if you want you can consider cannabis to have no negative effects at all. if it has no negative effects then how is daily use wrong? you can tell me daily cannabis use is wrong all day long but that is just an opinion

alcohol clearly has negative effects

I smoke everyday, but I could easily stop if I wanted/needed. The reason I do it so much these days is because I'm always bored to death and don't have many responsibilities.

I'm not in school, but all my friends are, so I'm usually just home all day with nothing to do, providing I'm not working that day. I don't see the problem with indulging in either substance throughout the day, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else or cause any problems. Personally though, I'd never be able to drink throughout the day, everyday. I'd feel terrible. I usually have 2-3 beers every second or third night, because I legitimately like the taste of some beer and enjoy drinking a few, but I wouldn't get hammered drunk every night.

I quit herb for 2 weeks with no problems at all, and i guarantee when I get back in school my smoking will be cut down a lot.
