Daily Drug Use

Lots of people here smoke everyday and are open about it. If those people drank instead do you think you would react differently?

Most people who think that someone who drinks everyday is an alcohol, but no one here is really concerned if someone smokes weed everyday.

Regardless of the difference in damage that these drugs do to your body, dependence on either one of these drugs is not good.

Why do you think we care so much about alcohol addiction, but not cannabis addiction?

This thread has nothing to do with the thread were someone was trying to get their alcoholic family off of alcohol with cannabis, just so you know.

The reason ppl are ok with it is that there is no proof that weed is addictive, so anyone that has a problem with it is a just a big lazy piece of shit who doesn't want to try to stop. And its hard to straight up hate lazy people

I think it is easier to hate someone who is just lazy as hell compared to someone who has a legitimate addiction.

The destructive effects of alcoholism are far more visible. Its easy to smoke weed everyday and still be a productive member of society

Yea, but weed smokers don't do bad shit all the time. Now, if they are doing what heroin addicts do and spend all their parents money its easy to hate them. But if they are just dealing, smoking, and living their life, I don't see a good reason to hate them

Cannabis is one of those substances that I would have to use every day to actually enjoy it. I get extreme anxiety from smoking without a tolerance. That's one reason why I don't smoke anymore. I assume most people who smoke marijuana do so a daily basis.

Ok, I think that is a super extreme assumption. I would say a majority of users dont do it everyday. I did it every day for 3 months and stopped cold turkey w/ only about two days of looking back. I will prob start again when i go back to school, but right now I don't give a shit

Just basing it on my observations. All cannabis users I know, smoke on a daily basis.

OP, an alcohol dependency is much, much, MUCH, worse than a cannabis dependency.  people will die from DT's, but the worst you get from cannabis withdrawal is a severed appetite and a cranky attitude for a week.

My father is an alcoholic and has been since I was a kid.  He's not a violent or angry drunk, he drinks about a 6 pack every night when he gets home.  He gets up and goes to work every morning.  I think the problem with drug use of any kind is how it affects your life.  If you come home from work everyday and smoke weed in your home to relax, I don't see much of a problem with that.

My father is obviously an alcoholic, but it's his body and it doesn't affect me.  Now if drinking caused him to get angry and hit me while I was growing up, it would be a completely different story.

I smoked weed daily for 1.5 years, I quit and never looked back.

I've found I'm more energetic and social. It really feels like I've finally been able to work past a lot of problems I've had in the past.

because alcoholism often comes with a whole slew of serious problems such as domestic violence, dangerous driving, incoherency, etc

I don't think many people here would have a problem with someone having a beer every day

but you know a real DRUNK when you see them. They are often obnoxious and not coherent enough to be very responsible, or at the very least their motor skills are highly impaired..

My boss drinks every day but would hire a pothead before an alcoholic...is it because we're all potheads? no, its because we can still work responsibly no matter how stoned. But if you came into work and were stumbling all over the place and dropping things/falling etc, you'd most likely be fired that day. It would be the same if i was on too much xanax or something


being stoned isnt as likely to compel you to tell a complete stranger to cook me a steak bitch while drooling and slurring every word you say. Nor is it as likely to give you the violent rage you need to beat your wife, in my experience.

i'm having trouble explaining here but there is a world of difference that extends far beyond being dependent on SOMETHING. It has a lot more to do with the actual effects of the substance

There's some intense rationalizations going on here. Weed is apparently safe because "heroin addicts" steal money from their parents. As if there aren't scumbags who would do that with cannabis. Also, you are making gross generalizations about heroin users, assuming they are all the same.

Bottom line; people can be addicted to almost anything.

I think it might be a reflection what most people experience in real life because I know in Australia it's definitely the opposite where someone who drinks everyday is far more socially accepted than us stoners. And in real life I know I sorta have to have to defend my smoking from time to time and the first thing you normally say in defense is the old comparison to booze. And in all honesty we have alot of like minded people in one place at shroomery for instance I'd say theirs a higher ratio of pot smokers to non pot smokers on shroomery than their would be in real life.

The intense rationalization is that being a douche has anything to do with being an addict or a simple viceroy. There will people of all moralities, virtues, and walks, with all vices of abuse. It is an inevitability.

Your liver doesn't give a fuck if you're addicted or not, it just quits without a two-weeks notice one day because you shotgunned it with alcohol. THen you need a new one. Guess what, it's pretty 1:1 for livers around here, so having those assholes around it a major burden.

If marijuanna abusers develop emphysema it may never get that bad, simpyl leaving them wheezing or dragging an oxygen tank about, with the exception of the few who will develop cancer as a result of the free radical bombardment of their lungs, however compared to the probability of developing Cirrosis, smoking pot every day is a roulette spin, not a coin flip.

I would highly doubt natural, clean, properly prepared pot's smoke has the amount of polonium in it tobbacco smoke does- because it isn't subject to the application of pointless regulations and prepared with who knows what disturbing processes.

Further, the entire point is moot, because there is no major medical threat we know of in relation to daily pot use in any of the hundreds of ways you can ingest the cannabinoids without inhaling the crude combustibles of a plant.

I find your thread, and this discussion, duragatory to our ultimate goal, and believe it's people with a mindset like yours that are stalling the social change we so desperately need to occur.

You wouldn't complain if someone with a bad knee used painkillers every day- or even bring it up- and that's a tangible, usually inescapable physical addiction. There is no "waaahhh I'm just too much of a pussy" to opiates. There's a hook cutting an inch long tear through the roof of your mouth every moment you don't get some more. That stuff is legal, too.
