Mushrooms that grew have perlite on them... what to do?

This owl said that he had a cake growing and he just picked some of the mushrooms, and the one of the mushrooms didn't grow straight up, rather it sank down and part of it was growing touching the perlite. When this owl picked the mushrooms there was perlite sticking to the one. He rubbed it off of the mushroom, kinda reminded him of taking salt off of a pretzel. After he did that, the mushroom seemed kinda bare. Like it didnt grow an outer 'shell.' He is somewhat worried about this and if this mushroom is safe for consumption. He told me that this is his first grow, so maybe he didn't do everything perfect. I also happened to be walking along the street today and found a picture of them. He thinks he may have picked them too late also, because he was waiting for the other mushrooms to grow and then havest all at once, but he has some slow growers.

damn, now i want some pretzels. mmmmmm rold gold mmmmmmm

think of it like this... Mushrooms grow on shit, and people still eat them. and when you pick, you may often have verm and casing on it... so what would you do normaly... throw it away? no, you brush that shit off.

the only concern you should have is if it's touched any desicants or any chemicals you wouldnt eat normaly. or if it's contaminated.
