bags slow and not sure what to do
    #13636531 -

on oct 8th i nocc'd up 12 jars with B plus and golden teacher. i also noccd up on the same day 2 of the 3lb bags, and 2 of the 1 lb bags. now its mid december and they show alot of growth but none of them are more than 50 percent. one of them finally showed green signs of decontam so i took out the bag and tried to salvage what parts were not in contact with the decontam and put it in a shotgun terrarium. i had nothing to case with so i just thought it'd be better than to let it rot. again i'm just wondering becuz the jars were done in 25-30 days and i'm still waiting on the bags. is there anything to do to speed it up? again they look healthy with thick white growth. there in a incubator at about 83degrees nonstop with some more jars i just started.
thanks a bunch
btw just bought audobon's guide to mushrooms and paul staments book on growing and they are the bible of mushrooms

They may be about to start stalling growth, then become contaminated or they may just be growing really slow. You may want to take them out of the incubator because to high of the temperature can increase the likely hood of contamination growth.

Yes you should not have grain bags at more than 80 degrees.  Some say less.

How is your moisture content on the bags?  I made the mistake of having too wet of grains in my bags and that creates a lot of problems with slow colonization, contamination in the bag, and/or contamination at spawning.

Did you introduce a large volume of fresh air to the bags before sealing, so they were full like balloons?  That is important to allow the filter patch to breathe.

Finally, I know on my bags that if I gently squeeze the air-filled part I can smell the air around the filter patch and use that to judge interior conditions.  On stalled, wet-looking bags you might smell a sour smell, which is bacterial contamination.  I have had that happen.

Good luck!
