Hipsters are people who wear ridiculous clothing, usually tight jeans rolled up to mid-calf so that they don't get them tangled in their "fixies". (expensive single speed bikes, usually without brakes) Their only stipulation for music is that no one else knows the band exists, the fact that the music may suck ass is not important.

The "hipster" movement is based on mostly irony, fashion, and self importance, not on any real idea or creed of any substance.

I have a girlfriend friend at Temple University in Philadelphia who took me to a party, imagine a shitty row home PACKED with hipsters, 95 pound skinny white dudes with enlarged glasses, beanies half way off their heads, plaid shirts and TIGHTER pants than any girl has EVER worn.  I was having a good ass time and my friend asked me what I thought of the scene, I said I liked it because I felt dominant, like an alpha male :lol: she said and I quote: "I hate temple, these are not men, these are all pussies."

Yea, that's a hipster.



On the other hand though not to knock temple, there is a lot of cool mofo's down there.


I don't hate them though, I'd rather chill with hipsters than wanna be thug faggots.

eh, ya got me.

like I said I love cloves (bidis) and animal collective.  I even own a pair of bright green sunglasses.  I go to shows in bars called "the swan dive" and "Cosmic Charlie's"  I listen to Joanna Newsom and Bjork and if I drink beer it's either newcastle or pabst.

But I also like everything else, including a lot of music considered to be hipster repellent (Melvins, Butthole Surfers, phish etc)  I developed alot of my tastes when I was younger so now I'm 23 and I just have to live with them whether they make me a hipster or not.
