If you used a longer syringe you would increase your chances of contamination because the needle would come in contact with more substrait. I think it would speed up colonization though.

You could just use more spore water. Yes there are longer syringes available, try a farm supply or scientific store. Or a pharmacy or an emerg dept. of a hospital, vet clinic :wink:.

i don't really see how longer needles would help much.
normally, the inoculant runs down the glass anyway so as long as you can penetrate the verm. barrier, and use enough spore water (1/4 cc. per hole) then it should not be much of a problem.
pints are just slower than half-pints.

as much as I hate to, I agree with hippie. If you want faster colonization use more solution, and in a forceful injection, so that the spore solution gets further down. I did this, innoculating in only one site, and the jar finished only 1/2 week after the half pints.. interesting.
