AA Blowout Valves Work!!
    #1352708 -

So, im sterilizing some equipment in my AA921. I left the eye on full blast but forgot to open the stopcock. 10 minutes later i hear whistling but it's not the familiar whistling that comes from the stopcock. I run in the kitchen and the guage reads just past 30psi and it is the blowout valve that is doing the whistling! I immediately pop the stopcock and drain the pressure down to 15psi. It holds that pressure fine. I finish the sterilization and empty the PC. I carefully examine it for any stretches or extrusions. These things are built like tanks! I'm really glad that thing didn't explode and even more glad I made such a wise investment. So, a question to make this legit for this forum. I was always under the impression that the blowout valve was a one-time safety check, that once it blew you had to replace the valve. Obviously this is not the case. This leaves me to wonder just how the hell these things do their magic. Any takers?

I guess you'll have to find out what sort of safety valve it is. It sounds like it's probably a mechanical one so you won't need to replace it. My PC has a fusible disc that melts when the pressure gets too high so you have to replace it.
