So who's ready for the season, or who's been lucky enough to already have gone snowboarding/Skiing this year?...





Here in California we were hammered with a storm this weekend that is going to kick off the season oh so nicely.


So far snow totals were at 105 inches as of this morning, yup that's right, damn near 9 feet of snow from this recent storm. And another 2 feet is expected in the next 36 hours.


When this storm was first approaching I was predicting 3ft to 5ft of total accumulation at most, looks like we're going to be left with 5ft to 10ft when it's all said and done.



I don't think I could of asked for a better start to the season than nipple deep powder.

that sounds amazing. I just moved far away from my home for uni and I won't be able to go skiing until I'm back for christmas. The rest of my family skied at copper today, I'm jealous

It was snowing here a few days ago. But then it stopped. Really makes me angry :sad: The weather channel keeps saying it's going to e snow..But then it doesn't. Only on the mountains, which is good..The one I usually go to opened yesterday :thumbup: I'm hoping to go pretty soon.

It's getting really cold though, today it was -10

Stuck on the coast looking at a miserable ocean with no rideable waves. Meanwhile, friends in Tahoe phone and laugh at my plight as they reinforce the fact that yes, it is dumping and will continue right on into this lovely long weekend.

I miss the Mountains :thumbdown:

So the last bit of the storm cleared out late this morning...


Storm total, 130 inches!, that's 330cm for you metric folk.

Haha, well when snowboarding or skiing on top of 10 feet of fluffy powder ya sink down to about your chest while riding through it, hence nipple deep snow.

But trying to walk through it is scary, there's been a time I was riding out of bounds and got stuck in a ravine. So I had to un-bind out of my bindings to walk up to some semi-packed snow, as soon as I got out of my bindings and took my first step I sunk to damn near my neck, it was a shitty situation that took an hour to move only 50 feet or so....

The snow was so deep and dry/fluffy that it would not pack down, so moving through it was quite a task especially up hill. Not to mention the exhaustion from the elevation, and the fact that it was snowing rather heavily at the time as well.

Funny thing was, little did I know my buddy was about 75 yrds away from me in the same situation :smirk:, I just couldn't see em'.

I guess that's why I love it so much.

Anyway, this was my street during 12/26/04

I got 14 inches of snow that day...

Southeastern VA.  30 miles NW of Norfolk.  That makes a big difference in snow totals.
