Russula sp. ? (ID Please)
    #13428174 -

11-2-10
Rowan Co., NC
USA

Found alone, growing from soil at the base of a Tulip Poplar, in mixed, predominantly hardwood, forest.

Pileus:
4.2cm broad, convex, smooth, dry, light purple with creamy pinkish center (could be due to fading)
Flesh is white and soft.

Lamellae:
Adnate, close, white, equal

Stipe:
3.3cm long, 1.4cm thick, white, smooth, equal, solid

Smell:
fungoid, somewhat pleasant but not a strong smell.

Spore Print:
White

I thought this to be a species of Russula, but I am not sure.
Would like to know the species if at all possible.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks

Hey thanks man!
For some reason I completely forgot to search mushroomexpert.

I'd say it's Russula cyanoxantha.

Good call 'Thinker'!

An easy was to identify Russulas is to try to break the stem in half. Russlas snap kind of like chalk.
