same story....same place.... i was walking my dog after a down pour today and noticed these little buggers. still waiting on a print. the location is near orlando and was under sum brush near an old tree stump. any input would be great. thanx

Looks like a red capped species of Russula. Does it break almost like chalk? That would be one characteristic of russula species. Another interesting feature is when thrown against a tree, a russula will typically "explode" into a bunch of little bits and pieces.

Either Russula Silvicola or Russula sanguinea, but judging by the stem color i believe is Silvicola. Only after a sporeprint color confirmation you can be sure.

You might want to try the On-line synoptic key to the species of Russula in North America. There are around 100 species of Russula that can have a red pileus and an entirely white stem.
