Try breaking the stalk in half with your fingers. Is it fibrous, or does it break like a piece of chalk?

Its fibrous, are these the eating trippy type or the deadly poisonous type?
Here are some more pics. They have no smell, I had to fight the spiders to get these other samples.

Thanks For all you input and help.

Interesting. You say the stem is fibrous, but the photo almost looks like the chalk-like breaking. If you try to peel the stem lengthwise, does it separate into fibers? A good example of what I'm talking about is the common white button mushroom you might get from the store.

Overall, I agree with Anno that they look like Russulas. Russulas grow in association with trees, so there are trees right nearby?

None of the Russulas are active. Some are edible and some are poisonous. The edible ones aren't very good (IMHO), and most of the poisonous ones just make you puke and have diarrhea. The dangerous Russulas bruise reddish, grayish, or blackish. Of course, unless you can positively identify them as an edible species, they should be treated as being poisonous.

The bad news is that Russula is a very difficult genus to identify mushrooms in. You have to use a microscope for all but a few very distinctive species. So there is almost no hope for identifying those to species over the net.

So the answer to "are these the eating trippy type or the deadly poisonous type?" is no. They are neither. Possibly edible, but hardly worth the effort if they are, and possibly poisonous. This is probably a good time to quote Ben Woo, who wrote one of the useful keys for identifying Russulas - "the best thing Russulas are for is kicking!"

Happy mushrooming!

Yep there are trees nearby, lots of them. Too bad they are not the trippy type the whole area under the house looks like a patch (just add water).

Do you have to say "trippy type"?
Is it that much harder to type the word "active" or even "psychoactive"?

... Just a pet peeve of mine.
