Me: fine. you?
Me: how come all the mormon missionaries that walk around and knock on peoples' doors are men. but all the mormon missionaries that talk to people on the internet are ladies?
Whitney: my sister served in russia
Whitney: where she knocked on doors
Whitney: my mom served in italy
Whitney: where she knocked on doors
Whitney: and i know plenty of missionaries that are male that do chat like this
Whitney: this is only part of my mission
Whitney: i do spent a lot of time actually talking to real people
Me: i didnt know that. do you have an interesting family?
Whitney: I sure think so.
Whitney: i have a brother and a sister
Whitney: i'm the youngest
Me: where are you from?
Whitney: Washington DC
Me: cool. so why did your mom and sister knock on doors on the other side of the world?
Whitney: as missionaries we can get called anywhere in the world, we are called by revelation, though a prophet. My sister and mom got called to those places
Whitney: My brother went doen to south america to do the same thing
Whitney: we do it because this is something that has brought us so much joy we are willing to give up a year and a half of our life to tell people all about it
Me: why only one and a half years?
Whitney: That's the amout of time the leaders of the church came up with
Me: could you do it longer if you wanted to?
Whitney: yeah you can extend, or you can come back and then if you really wanted you can get called some where else and some other time in your life! It's really a great experience!
Me: but i thought it wasnt about what you wanted to do, but what god wants you to do?
Whitney: Yeah. God want his children to be happy. Missionary work is something that is required or that promotes us in the church, but it's voletary. So if we go, we go where god wants us to go. the decision to go is really something that is between you and go, you look inside youself and pray and come to a conclusion if going of a mission is right for you
Me: how do you know when god wants you to go?
Whitney: you pray about it. You can anytime after 21. I came to the conclusion that i needed to go on a mission at a young age. so right when i turned 21 one i knew it was the right time for me to go
Me: why doesnt god want anyone under 21 to be a missionary?
Whitney: you have so many good questions
Whitney: is it alright if we set up a time and i can call you and answer all your questions
Me: do you have the answer?
Whitney: i do have an answer for you
Me: i know. i accidently sent that after you sent me your other reply
Me: what kind of music do mormons listen to?
Whitney: everything and anything.
Whitney: What your favorite band?singer
Me: wu tang clan
Me: do you like wu tang clan?
Whitney: I've never heard of them before.
Whitney: My favoirte band is Jack's Mannequin and motion city soundtrack
Me: they're good
Me: yuck
Whitney: well i'm our of time. Can we set up a time to finish this conversation?
Me: i dunno. i may come back to this website sometime
Me: is this just like a 9-5 job?
Whitney: no, i'm not getting paid for it and its a 24 hour job, but my time on chat is almost up.
Whitney: I'd love to finishing answering your questions
Whitney: you have some really good ones
Me: how do you sleep?
Me: alrighty
Whitney: haha, well we do take time to sleep, and we have have a day for preperation
Whitney: ok great what time works for you?
Me: i dunno. i have a busy schedule. how many mormons are on the chat at all times?
Me: what are the chances of me talking to you next time?
Whitney: slim to none.
Me: the next time i get on, could i just ask for whitney?
Whitney: how about this, i'll take your e-mail and send you an e-mail and then we can figure out a time
Whitney: you could, but i only spent a small time of my day talking on chat.
Me: i dunno. i guess i'll just meet a new mormon on my next visit
Whitney: but what your e-mail
Whitney: and i'll shoot you and e-mail
Me: i just use it to get gift certificates at claires, but i dont shop at claires anymore, so now i dont ever get on it
Whitney: haha, i've done that before. ok, well if you like i can take you phone number and leave you a message and we can fingure something out from there
Me: do you know what claires is?
Me: nah, its alright. i like meeting new mormons
Whitney: yeah
Whitney: that's where i buy my head bands
