Mycelium in new Incub. (PICS!)

I just got done building this incubation chamber. This is actually my first grow, so I have been EXTREMELY worried about everything going correct. If I could have a few posts critiquing my setup, they would be much appreciated.

Here is my current setup:


As you can see, I have my jars sitting in there and a temp gauge ran in from the side. They are in a 10gal rubbermaid container that floats in a 21 gal container. I shoved a NONsubmerible water heater in the side and left the dial/nonsubmersible part sticking out the side and glued it water tight with silicone (to withstand the heat).

The temp is kept at about 27degree Celsius.


I inoculated these jars on the night of the 23rd. I have not seen any sign of Mycelium growth.


I used the mixture of 2/3rd's cup of Verm and 1/4 cup of BRF. I added as much water that could be absorbed, and threw the concoction into these jars. I am worried that I have not created the proper env for the mycelium to grow in.
Are there any problems with my current setup? Am I doing something incorrect?

And chill out and relax and let them do there thing. Everything doesnt have to be as exact as people say, but just keep doing what your doing and no doubt youll have shrooms

Haha, I have those same jars too (12 of them).  I don't like the quilted jars though; you can't see very well through them when you're anticipating mycelium growth  :wink:

I'm not sure what may happen this time, but next time I'd suggest using 1/2 cup Verm, 1/4 BRF, and 1/4 water. It's a very safe way to go. Adding too much water to the substrate is a common mistake.

What are those purple/red things you put your cakes on? And what is that stuff you but your other cakes on...Verm?

The purple things are the lids from the container they were in. The other stuff is verm.

Does putting your cakes on verm help or something? It looks like they are topped with it too...what's the deal? Just a curious newbie...

It does help. It's called the doubled ended casing tek. If you do a search for it you'll probably get quite a few results.
